Canandaigua Attack Travel League
What is Attack Travel League?
Canandaigua Attack is CASL’s travel soccer program for boys and girls ages 8-19. Teams are divided by gender and year of birth. The program accepts players from inside and outside of the Canandaigua City School District. It is a competitive program, intended to develop skills necessary to ultimately play soccer at the High School Varsity level. Players are expected to have prior soccer experience and are required to try out for the program. Cuts may occur and playing time is not guaranteed.
Attack Tryouts
Two tryout sessions are typically set in mid to late summer or early fall. Attendance at one session is mandatory, but attendance at both sessions is recommended, especially for players new to the program. During the tryouts, players are evaluated by CASL coaches and then, based on these results, rosters are set by a five-person CASL Selection Committee. Teams are coached by volunteer parents with the guidance of our professional coaching directors. Rosters are announced shortly after the second tryout date, at which time the player must accept or decline the roster position. When a player accepts, a $100, non-refundable, deposit must be made to secure the position.
Commitment - Practices & Games
In years past, the travel season began with indoor practices begin in January, typically just one hour per week, usually Friday night, Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening. Indoor practices rotate between Canandaigua gyms and Rochester-area, indoor turf facilities. The season moved outdoors when conditions allow in May, at which time practices and/or games are typically held twice per week. New for 2026 is the openign of FLX Turf in Canandaigua, most of our indoor turf time will be held at this new facility on weekday early evenings and weekends.
In 2026 Canandaigua Soccer is providing a new program named Travel+, which begins in November and is for those players who are eager to start practicing sooner. There is an addition fee for Travel+ that is TBD. The fee collected will pay for turf time at FLX turf and for CASL to hire a paid coach for practices. In January and December, the two hours of weekly practices will be run by the paid coach. In January, when standard travel begins, the volunteer coach will run practices for 1 hour per week for travel players, and the paid coach will run practice for the other hour for Travel+ players. In Travel+ you are guarateed 2 hours of practice per week from November to March. See below.
Teams participate in the Rochester District Youth Soccer League (see: https://www.rdysl.com). Games schedules are announced by RDYSL in April. Games are played from mid-May through the first week in August. Half of the games played are "home games" are played at FLCC and the other half are "away games," played at locations throughout the greater Rochester area. Most games are held on weeknights @ 6:30. Practices may occur during the day on weekends or on weeknights. Teams also usually participate in at least one of the Rochester-area summer soccer tournaments. Practice schedules and tournaments are set by the team’s coaches with input from team families.
Canandaigua Attack is a non-profit, volunteer program with 100% of fees devoted to player development.
