Code of Conduct for Players, Coaches and ParentsThe Canandaigua Area Soccer League, Inc. (CASL), a volunteer organization with memberships in various greater-Rochester / Wayne-Finger Lakes youth soccer organizations, the NYS West Youth Soccer Association, and the US Youth Soccer Association, Inc., promotes youth soccer in the greater Canandaigua area. The club is also a Character Education Partner with the Canandaigua City School District . Our philosophy is to provide a learning experience for all participants in the areas of individual skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, trust, and respect. Our goal is to provide an environment where fun, fitness, and friendship are the primary objectives.NYSWYSA has assured us that the names of players are not sold or traded to any other organization. Please do not publish, announce, or distribute any information that includes the names and personal information about our players to anyone.

As players, coaches, and parents, you are expected to represent your team, league and community in a manner consistent with these goals:As Players...

  • Play the game for the games sake. Hustle, work hard, listen and learn. Most of all, have fun while doing it.
  • Treat teammates, opposing players, coaches, referees, and parents with respect. There is no place in the game for physical and verbal abuse.
  • Be proud (yet gracious) when you and your team succeeds. When you lose, keep your head up and learn from the experience.
  • Be responsible for your actions, both on and off the field. Represent yourself, the team and your community, with the highest standards. Dont get involved with drugs, alcohol, nor tobacco. Why risk a great future!

As Coaches...

  • Provide a safe, healthy, and learning environment for your team. Give every player an opportunity to succeed. Care for the person as an individual.
  • Understand its not only what you say, but how you say it. Provide constructive criticism from which the player will learn. Congratulate hustle and effort.
  • As a representative of the coaching profession, treat all players, opposing teams, coaches, referees, and parents with respect. Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
  • When things are not going your way, step back, look, and listen. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. And remember, its only a game.

As Parents...

  • Participate in your childs learning experience. Understand the game and its purpose. But dont re-live your childhood dreams.
  • Promote the team above the individual. Provide constructive congratulations, not destructive criticism. Be honest with the player. Seek fairness and integrity.
  • Treat all players, coaches, referees, and parents with respect. Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
  • Enjoy the sport, and the friendships that come from it. Enjoy the games, but remember when a game is over, win or lose, your player is just a kid.
